The Pantone Color Institute forecasts color trends that will impact industries like fashion and home in the coming season. Every season, Pantone creates the Pantone Fashion Color Trend Report. The report is inspired by the trends and color pallets showcased at New York Fashion Week, since what is seen on the runway impacts color and design in all facets of life and design in the months following. For spring and summer 2019, the colors are exciting and empowering.
Color is powerful in that it can set a mood or create an ambience. Color is both emotional and subjective. Color trends for 2019 are described by Pantone as being “vibrant without being overpowering”, giving permission for us all to face the future with confidence. The colors are playful and expressive, with 12 bold colors and four neutrals. Pantone explains that the color trends merge both street fashion and high fashion. Think Fiesta, an orange red hue, and Aspen Gold, a bright yellow. Pink Peacock is a punchy pink, and Princess Blue has depth. Classic neutrals include Soybean, a warm cream, and Brown Granite, a muted brown.
